EcoCell™

EcoCell™ Acoustic and Thermal Insulation is cellulose fiber that is 80% recycled and renewable fibers. It is an insulation panel which provides acoustic isolation, as well as typical insulation properties. It offers excellent acoustic performance with an NRC of 1.00 (3.5”). The thermal performance has an R-Value of R13, 3.60 per inch of thickness. Auralex EcoCell™ has a nominal density of 8 pounds per cubic foot (PCF).
EcoCell™ outperforms many fiberglass products by reducing air infiltration.

Two widths are available, 24" wide for commercial installations and 16" wide, sized more for residential solutions.
An STC will vary depending on wood or steel stud, gypsum board used, and wall configuration. STC from 41 using 16" on center studs and 1/2" gypsum board.
A 66 STC may be achieved via double wood studs, 16" on center, double layer of gypsum board hung using RC-8™ Resilient Channel.
An STC of 60 will used steel studs, 5/8 gypsum board, also utilizing RC-8™ Resilient Channel.

EcoCell™ also contains and EPA registered fungicide to resist mold growth, contains no harmful airborne particles, and will not itch or irritate skins like standard fiberglass can.

When compared to most standard, thermal, fiberglass insulation, it is far superior for reducing sound transmission. EcoCell™ is most effective when used with SheetBlok™ Sound Barrier (wall and ceiling isolation).
EcoCell™ may qualify for a Federal Energy Tax Credit.
