Our Hardest Working Products for Soundproofing - Introducing Auralex EcoCell™

The essentials of soundproofing/sound isolation with Auralex Acoustics!
Whether you're setting up a professional or home studio, podcast room, or home theater, understanding how to control sound is key. Don't want to disturb your neighbors or any people inside your space? Need to keep the sound of planes, lawnmowers, and traffic from spoiling your recordings and mixing? Auralex has the tried and true sound isolation products to create a soundproof space.
Sound Isolation is the reduction of sound transmission from one space to another. This generally requires construction materials and may involve remodeling your space. We have many resources available on our website to help guide you through the sound isolation process.
"Auralex Construction Solutions Just Got Greener!"
EcoCell™ Acoustic and Thermal Insulation is cellulose fiber that is 80% recycled and renewable fibers. It is an insulation panel that provides acoustic isolation, as well as typical insulation properties. It offers excellent acoustic performance with an NRC of 1.00 (3.5"). The thermal performance has an R-Value of R13, 3.60 per inch of thickness. Auralex EcoCell™ has a nominal density of 8 pounds per cubic foot (PCF).
• EcoCell™ outperforms many fiberglass products by reducing air infiltration.
• EcoCell™, when compared to most standard, thermal, fiberglass insulation, is far superior for reducing sound transmission.
• EcoCell™ is most effective when used with SheetBlok™ Sound Barrier (wall and ceiling isolation).
• EcoCell™ may qualify for a Federal Energy Tax Credit.
Made of a specially-formulated silicone compound, the new generation of U-Boat™ (Patent Pending) Floor Floaters are our proprietary U-shaped channels used to support framing members and float (isolate and decouple) them from the surrounding structure. With a new and improved engineered design and look, with the help of U-Boats™, a floated room features greatly improved transmission loss (isolation) and low frequency definition (translated: a tight, floated room will always sound better!).
• Decouples Floor Beams From Supporting Structure
• Reduces Structural Vibrations
• New Formulation With Improved Isolation
SheetBlok™ Sound Isolation Barrier is a dense, limp-mass, vinyl material that is used to stop the transmission of sound in a wall stack-up of materials. It acts as a thin, dense, sound barrier layer in walls, ceilings or floors, and is most effective when used as one component of a multi-layered construction scheme.
- Size: 4’x10′ rolls (40 sq. ft.) or 4’x30′ rolls (120 sq. ft.)
- Weight: 4’x10′ Roll = 45lbs. – 4’x30′ Roll = 128 lbs.
- Sq. Ft. Weight: +1#/sq. ft.
- Color: Black (smooth on one side; has a pebble grain finish on the other)
- STC: 26
RC-8™ Resilient Channel is a specially formed, sturdy metal device that, when used to hang drywall (instead of just attaching the drywall to the studs or joists), greatly reduces the sound transmission characteristics of the wall or ceiling system.
StopGap™ Sealant is a highly elastic, water-based sealant used for reducing sound transmission at the perimeter of wall systems, or around electrical box cutouts to achieve specified STC/MTC values. The surface dries to a tough film, but the sealant remains flexible and stays pliable for up to 5 times longer than alternative brands.
Unlike other products,
• StopGap™ has no residual run-off.
• StopGap™ is paintable (dries white) and non-staining
• StopGap™ meets ASTM E-84 standards for flame retardancy.
